Selling your clunker?
Are you going to take advantage of the federal “cash for clunkers” program that lets you trade in your gas guzzler and get up to $4,500 toward a new, fuel-efficient vehicle? If so, Jerry Cornfield, jcornfield@heraldnet.com, wants to learn what you’re giving up and what you’re buying.
Under the program, your vehicle must be less than 25 years old and registered to you, plus insured and drivable for the entire year before you trade it in.
Passenger cars must have been rated at 18 or fewer miles per gallon when new and the replacement car must get at least 22 mpg. Trucks and SUVs are a slightly different story.
Little Red School House receives grant: Little Red School House in Everett recently received a $10,000 grant from the Everett Clinic Foundation to support early intervention services for children living in homeless shelters and transitional housing around Snohomish County.
Little Red provides services for families with children, ages birth through 3, who have developmental disabilities, developmental delays or are at risk of falling behind their peers.
Rose Mitcham honored: Rose Mitcham of Lynnwood recently traveled to Washington, D.C., for a Daughters of the American Revolution Society National Continental Congress.
While there, she received a nationwide second place award for Outstanding Fiber Arts for her Scandinavian cutwork. She was also honored for her work on an American Heritage Project.”
