Cowlitz County jail inmate dies

LONGVEW — The Cowlitz County coroner said a 29-year-old female county jail inmate has died at a Longview hospital, where she was taken after showing signs of medical distress.

Coroner Tim Davidson said Monday that Stephanie Jo Deal of Longview died Saturday. The coroner says she had appeared to be healthy. An autopsy was planned, as well as toxicology tests.

The Daily News reported that Deal had been in jail for one week for a citation of third-degree driving with a suspended license.

The newspaper said she had two young children.
