SAMMAMISH — King County prosecutors have charged a 68-year-old woman who plowed her SUV through her waterfront home, killing family members, before crashing into Lake Sammamish.
Carol Fedigan was charged Thursday with two counts of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault and reckless endangerment in the May 16 crash.
Charging documents say she had been drinking wine and had taken the prescription sleep aid Ambien before trying to move her SUV onto the driveway with her 2-year-old grandson seated in her lap.
Documents show Fedigan accelerated instead of braking, ramming the SUV into the house and smashing into relatives seated at the dining table.
Her husband, David Walker, died at the scene. Her 41-year-old son-in-law, Sean Berry, died two days later. Her 34-year-old daughter was seriously injured. The grandson was not injured.
Fedigan’s defense lawyer, Jeffery Robinson, declined comment Friday.
She remains out of custody and is to be arraigned Dec. 18.
