CAMANO ISLAND — Five people were hurt and a suspected drunken driver was arrested Saturday after a four-car crash west of Stanwood.
A Kia Spectra driver pulled out of a private driveway around 3 p.m. to go east in the 700 block of Highway 532 on Camano Island.
An eastbound Kia Soul swerved across the center line to avoid striking the Spectra, according to the Washington State Patrol. The Soul hit an oncoming Nissan Ultima.
A man, 83, and a woman, 71, in the Soul were hurt, state troopers said. They were taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.
A man, 62, and a woman, 59, in the Ultima suffered minor injuries and were taken to the same hospital, according to troopers. In the chain reaction, a Nissan Versa crashed into the back of their car.
The Spectra driver, 54, suffered minor injuries, too. She was checked at Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington. Troopers booked her into Snohomish County Jail for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol.
