MUKILTEO — Those who favor or oppose a property tax increase for emergency medical services, here’s your chance to make a statement.
Residents are needed to write the pro and con statements for the voters’ pamphlet for the EMS levy lid lift in Mukilteo.
After much discussion, the Mukilteo City Council authorized adding a ballot measure on the levy to the Aug. 1 primary election.
The EMS levy lid lift would bring the levy rate from its current rate of 27 cents per $1,000 of assessed valuation to 40 cents per $1,000. It would expire after six years.
“Money can only be used for EMS,” Mukilteo Mayor Joe Marine said. “We have been using the general fund to help fund EMS. The 40 cents is enough.”
Each side can consist of three members but can also ask the advice of other people.
Candidates must be registered voters in Snohomish County.
The deadline to apply is April 21. The council will chose the members at the May 1 meeting.
The form is online at mukilteowa.gov/news/call-for-pro-con-ballot-statement-committee-members or available at Mukilteo City Hall, 11930 Cyrus Way. For more information, call 425-263-8018.
