EVERETT — A woman was critically injured after a driver reportedly crashed into her Monday outside a Rite Aid.
Around 4:40 p.m., police were called to a report of a pedestrian struck following an argument in the parking lot at 4920 Evergreen Way. Initial witness reports suggested the crash was intentional, though police were still trying to sort out exactly what happened, Everett officer Kerby Duncan said.
Miriam Gonzalez, of Everett, was pulling into the lot when she saw a woman down on the asphalt. She got out of her car to check the woman’s vitals and made sure she stayed still while they waited for an ambulance to arrive.
“There was nobody doing nothing, and it was important for her not to move in case of injury,” said Gonzalez, who is studying to be a nurse.
The injured woman was bleeding from the side of her head, Gonzalez said, but her pulse was stable when she checked it. When the woman came to, Gonzalez said she seemed confused. She was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police. He did not appear to be under the influence, Duncan said.
Ultimately, he was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of domestic violence assault in the third degree, a felony.
