A Gathering Grove plays host to “High Holy Days: Their Meanings and Melodies,” with Shirel Smith, 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at 2820 Oakes Ave., Suite C., Everett.

Chabad of Snohomish County invites the public to celebrate the High Holy Days at the New Chabad House, 22225 100th Ave. W., Edmonds. Programs include traditional and inspirational services with Hebrew and English prayer books.
On Wednesday, Yom Kippur services are set to begin with lighting candles and fasting at 6:16 p.m., followed by Kol Nidrei services at 7 p.m.
On Thursday, services are set for 9:30 a.m. followed by a Yizkor Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m. and Mincha and Neilah services at 5:30 p.m. The fast ends at 7:18 p.m. followed by a light break-the-fast.
Seats are free for all services. Advance reservations are suggested.

Temple Beth Or, a reform Jewish congregation, invites the public to celebrate Yom Kippur services led by Rabbi William Cutter with soloist Jeffrey Prince, a singer and guitarist specializing in Jewish music.
On Wednesday, Erev Yom Kippur and Kol Nidrei services are at 7:30 p.m.
On Thursday, Yom Kippur Services are at 10 a.m.; 3 p.m (for children) and from 4 to 6:30 p.m. for Yizkor and the conclusion. A break-the-fast meal is set for 6:45 p.m.

St. Thomas More Catholic Church plays host to The Estudiantina Music and Dance Troupe from Nicaragua at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. following the 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Mass services on Sunday at 6511 176th St. SW, Lynnwood.

Organizers for the Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty, or CROP offer a devotional gathering for the upcoming CROP hunger walk from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at A Gathering Grove, 2820 Oakes Ave., Suite C, Everett. The CROP walk is scheduled for 1 p.m. Oct. 12.
Crop Walk is sponsored by Church World Service to raise awareness and funds for hunger and local and international relief and development efforts. Each year two million volunteers and sponsors raise more than $16 million to help end hunger and poverty around the world.

St. Augustine’s In-the-Woods presents its 46th annual Trash and Treasure Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 11 at 5217 S. Honeymoon Bay Road, Freeland, on Whidbey Island.
The event features household items, linens, small electronics, toys, tools, plants, baked goods, jams, jelly, preserves and the event’s famous pies served from the cafe. All funds benefit local charities.

CELEBRATIONS
Open Door Baptist Church invites the public to celebrate the 39-year ministry of its pastor Ken Blue and his wife, Joyce, at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at 17014 44th Ave. W., Lynnwood.
The Blues, who started Open Door Baptist Church in Oct. 1969, are retiring from ministry.
Ken Blue is a graduate of Midwestern Baptist College where he received an honorary doctorate. He has written 17 books and commentaries. The Blues have been married for almost 53 years. They have five children and 10 grandchildren.
Jason Murphy has been tapped to serve as the new senior pastor.

Snohomish Church of the Nazarene invites the public to the 100th anniversary of the worldwide Church of the Nazarene celebration from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Sunday at 1017 13th St., Snohomish.
Festivities begin with singing at 9:15 a.m. followed by Sunday school at 9:30 a.m., services at 10:45 a.m. and a missionary-themed potluck at 12:15 p.m.

Programs
Acts of God Drama Troupe presents “A Funny Thing Happened on My Way Through the Bible” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Oct. 11 at the Everett PUD auditorium, 2320 California St., Everett.
Performances feature “behind the scenes” sketches of favorite Bible characters including: what it was like to defeat Goliath, Adam defending creationism, Joseph’s brothers in a family therapy session and Noah living on the ark.

North Creek Presbyterian Church offers a GriefShare video seminar and support group from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays at 621 164th St. SE, Mill Creek.
The program meets for 13 weeks through December. The cost is $12 and includes a workbook.
The group is designed to support anyone grieving a death and includes information from nationally recognized experts on grief and recovery. Each session is self-contained so people can join at any time.
