EVERETT — Dennis Worsham will be the first director of the new Snohomish County Health Department.
Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers announced the appointment Wednesday, describing Worsham as an “innovative public health leader” with over 29 years of public health experience.
Most recently, Worsham was the interim director of Public Health — Seattle & King County from May 2021 through September 2022.
“Dennis is the leader Snohomish County needs to expand direct service, strengthen public health, and prepare us for the next public health challenge,” Somers said.
Worsham has roots in the Snohomish Health District, where he was the HIV/STD/hepatitis program manager and a health educator. He looks forward to returning to work here.
“I know the professionals who will work for the Snohomish County Health Department have a stellar reputation, and I plan to do all I can to support their important work saving lives and keeping people healthy,” Worsham said.
The Snohomish Health District will officially merge with the county to become the Snohomish County Health Department Jan. 1, 2023. Shawn Frederick will leave his current position as administrative officer of the district.
