GRANITE FALLS — A sleepy driver was being blamed for a collision that sent five people to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.
A 63-year-old Granite Falls woman suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said. She was in critical condition Tuesday evening.
The crash occurred about 3 p.m. on Highway 92 near Crooked Mile Road, he said.
The driver of a box van, a 23-year-old Granite Falls man, reportedly fell asleep at the wheel.
Three people, including a 5-year-old child, were taken to an Everett hospital and one person went to a hospital in Arlington.
The road was closed for about three hours while troopers investigated.
