Five injured in suspected DUI accident in Tacoma

TACOMA — Five people were injured early Christmas morning in a head-on crash on State Route 16 in Tacoma.

The Washington State Patrol said the driver of a BMW — a 35-year-old Tacoma man — was heading in the wrong direction. Authorities suspect he was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The SUV driver, 22-year-old Maura Senecal and her three passengers — 24-year-old Conor Senecal, 19-year-old Clare Senecal and 16-year-old Aidan Senecal — are the children of well-known area oncologist Dr. Frank Senecal and his wife Mary of University Place.

A spokeswoman for Multicare told The News Tribune that Maura and Aidan are reported in satisficatory condition while Conor and Clare have been released from the hospital.
