U.S. 2 trestle to close

The westbound U.S. 2 trestle into Everett is expected to close for back-to-back weekends starting at 7 p.m. Friday.

The paving project is heavily dependent on fair weather. The last two scheduled closures were canceled because of the forecast. Waterproof material applied during the project requires zero moisture on the ground to maintain the warranty, according to the state.

Closures are set for 7 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday and 7 p.m. June 29 to 4 a.m. July 2. A detour will take drivers on the one-lane 20th Street beneath the bridge.

Other weekend closures are tentatively set for July 13-16, July 20-23, Aug. 3-6 and Aug. 10-13. Some of those will involve a longer detour using Highway 9.
