The Everett Police Department plans to hold an open house from noon to 4 p.m. on the Fourth of July at the Headquarters Building, 3002 Wetmore Ave.
The community event lets people interact with officers and see how the department’s specialty units operate. Last year, more than 1,500 people attended the open house. The department will again have its popular “Passport to the Police,” that officers will stamp while explaining and demonstrating how their units function.
Colby the Crime Prevention Dog’s paw prints will lead everyone through the headquarters building and young participants will receive a prize.
Lynnwood police will hand out “tickets” to kids who are caught in the act of doing good deeds.
The tickets will be good for a free small Slurpee from 7-Eleven.
Operation Chill was developed by 7-Eleven in 1996 to positively reward and encourage good behavior by kids over the summer, when there is often an increase in loitering, shoplifting and graffiti.
Rubatino Refuse Removal trucks will be on schedule for the Fourth of July pick ups. However, the office will be closed on that day.
