EVERETT — Major crimes detectives with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office are looking for help identifying a woman whose body was recovered from the Snohomish River on Sunday.
The woman was entangled in a snag in the river near the 14110 block of Shorts School Road. Detectives did not observe obvious signs of trauma and there is no evidence of foul play at this time, sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
The woman was wearing several pieces of distinctive jewelry, including bracelets and a ring. Detectives hope someone may recognize the jewelry or have information to help in the identification of the woman.
The body was badly decomposed. Authorities do not know how long she was in the river.
Anyone with information that could help in the investigation should call the sheriff’s office anonymous tip line at 425-388-3845.
Positive identification of the woman, as well as cause and manner of death, are pending from the Snohomish County Medical Examiner.
The body was found in a log jam, between Snohomish and Monroe. Passersby who spotted it called 911 just after 5 p.m. Sunday. It took authorities several hours to reach the log jam, which was in a fast moving stretch of the river.
