SEABECK, Wash. — A black bear killed by a hunter near Seabeck weighed nearly 600 pounds.
Fish and Wildlife Department Sgt. Ted Jackson says the bear was unusually large for the area.
It was shot Oct. 12 by Dennis Durbin of Seabeck as he was deer hunting with his uncle Dan Durban.
The bear was over 7 feet from nose to tail.
The Kitsap Sun, which published a picture of Durbin with the bear, reports the Durbins had 368 pounds of meat processed into sausage and bear jerky.
