LAKE STEVENS — A family of three was displaced by a house fire Sunday that knocked out power to hundreds of Lake Stevens homes.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation Monday, deputy fire chief Larry Huff said. The two-alarm fire had consumed most of the house when crews arrived, he said. Firefighters from six departments worked to protect neighboring homes in case the flames spread.
“It was a pretty big fireball,” Huff said.
The fire was reported around 4:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of Vernon Road. The two-story house was destroyed.
The family did have insurance. The American Red Cross also was assisting them. No one was hurt.
