LYNNWOOD – Lynnwood High School was placed in lockdown for about an hour this morning while police investigated an assault nearby.
There was no threat to student safety, Edmonds School Distict spokeswoman Debbie Joyce Jakala said.
Police called the school about 7:15 a.m. and suggested the students be placed in lockdown as a precaution, she said.
Lynnwood Police spokeswoman Shannon Sessions said police are investigating a serious assault in an Alderwood area apartment complex parking lot.
A man was seriously hurt in the assault and taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Someone suspicious was seen running from the apartment complex and jumped a fence headed toward the high school, prompting the lock down.
Police detained a man for questioning and lifted the school lock down, Sessions said.
