MARYSVILLE — One man died and another was hospitalized after a house fire Thursday morning.
Someone reported heavy smoke coming from a three-story residence just before 3 a.m. in the 7900 block of 72nd Drive Northeast. Seven people lived there. Firefighters found a man dead in a basement bedroom, the Marysville Fire District said. Another man in a bedroom on the first floor was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
There were no other reported injuries, the fire district said.
A cost of the damage, mostly in the basement and first story, was not available.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire’s cause, but firefighters believe the home did not have any working smoke alarms.
