OLYMPIA — A man who hit a Tumwater police officer in the head with a hammer was sentenced Monday in Olympia to 15 years in prison.
Mark Thomas, 24, pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon.
He attacked Officer Austin Cady in September as officers entered an apartment looking for a runaway girl.
The Olympian reports Cady missed four months of work but has recovered.
