ARLINGTON — A man who decided to steal a deputy’s vehicle didn’t make it very far Wednesday in Arlington.
Sometime after 10 a.m. Wednesday, a 51-year-old man was driving a truck with trailer in tow through Arlington when deputies say he struck a vehicle and fled, said Courtney O’Keefe, spokesperson for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect from the crash then drove to the home of one of his relatives, where he crashed into their garage at the 16900 Block of 71st Drive NE, O’Keefe said.
When the deputy arrived, he witnessed the suspect and family member involved in a verbal dispute, O’Keefe said. The deputy attempted to deescalate the argument when the suspect got in the patrol car and began driving down the driveway.
Two Arlington police officers pinned the car with their vehicles as it was leaving the driveway, and the suspect was taken into custody.
No injuries occurred and the patrol vehicle suffered minor scratches, O’Keefe said.
