Brooklyn Groves, of Marysville, was named the Student Employee of the Year by the Washington State Association of Student Employment Administrators. She went on to the regional level and was awarded runner-up.
Groves, a senior studying psychology and Japanese at Western Washington University, has been employed by the university’s residence facilities program for three years.
“Brooklyn’s ‘can do’ attitude, personal motivation and work ethic are definitely visible in every aspect of her student experience at Western,” supervisor Terence Symonds wrote in his nomination letter. In addition to community service activities and spearheading important work projects, she also helps boost morale — sometimes using haiku.
