MONROE — An elderly woman who was fatally struck by a car while crossing the street in Monroe has been identified.
Around 6:50 a.m. Feb. 12, Barbara Burks of Monroe, 82, was crossing U.S. 2 near North Kelsey Street when a car headed west crashed into her in the crosswalk, according to Monroe police.
Burks died from blunt force injuries, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office. Her death was ruled an accident.
The driver remained at the scene and was “fully cooperating with the investigation,” Monroe police Cmdr. Paul Ryan wrote last month.
On Monday, it was unclear if any charges were pending.
