Bernie Webber, an icon of the Snohomish County art scene, died Sunday in Everett.
Webber, 84, is known for his images of the city, its people, famous and not-so-famous, and historical-themed murals in more than 50 public buildings, including schools, the court house and hospitals..
He was named Artist of the Year in 2004 by the Arts Council of Snohomish County..
Webbers representational style and bright palette captured images of all aspects of life in the Northwest, warships, streetcars, venerable old homes, farmsteads, markets, mountains and Husky stadium. He has painted portraits of all the mayors of Everett, set in historically appropriate backdrops..
After attending art school in Southern California, he returned to Everett to spend his career as a commercial artist and later, a fine artist with his own studio..
He leaves his wife of more than 50 years, Joy, 10 children, 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild..
