Meet: Speed-dating for seniors

The Edmonds Senior Center plans a speed-dating event from 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 13 and seeks more guys. There will be catered appetizers and nonalcoholic beverages.

Find a new friend or a lasting relationship. Or just enjoy some laughs.

Dance: Show some love

Speaking of Cupid … Valentine’s Day is coming up. And so are some dances (you seriously have no excuse now).

The Sno-King International Folk Dance Club holds a Sweetheart Dance at 7 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Cedar Valley Grange, 20526 52nd Ave. W, Lynnwood. Folk Voice Band will perform the live music to dance by, with tunes from many countries. The club does no-partner, couple and set dances — so you can bring yourself as a date to this one. Cost is $7, $2 for youth.

Camano Junction plays swingin’ big band music for a Valentine Dance, 7-10 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Camano Center, 606 Arrowhead Road, Camano Island. Tickets are $15 and sold at the door.

Already sold out is Marysville Parks and Recreation, with its Father Daughter Valentine’s Dance on Saturday.

Need some glitter-fueled backup?

Everett Parks and Recreation’s annual Daddy-Daughter Dances are set for 6:30 p.m. Feb. 10 and 11. Fathers and father figures can bring daughters of all ages to this popular event that includes dancing, refreshments and a commemorative photo. Registration is required. Cost is $29 per pair and $6 for each additional girl.

Edmonds Parks and Recreation holds its Daddy Daughter Dance at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 25 in the ballroom at the Edmonds Senior Center. (Did you catch that, fathers? You’d be taking your princess to a ball …) Live DJ, dancing and refreshments for $25 per couple, $6 for each additional child. Photos extra. Registration required and closes Feb. 22.

Eat: Learn to cook Norwegian food

The Bothell Sons of Norway offers a “Cook and Eat Norwegian” class for adults, 6-9 p.m. Feb. 10. The class will feature Norwegian fish balls and classic Norwegian side dishes and dessert. The cost is $20 and registration is required. Call Selma Snaring at 425-385-2144.

Don’t want to cook? A considerably less-authentic meal will be served from 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 18. The Youth Camp Breakfast will include Viking toast (OK, French toast), “troll” sausage, fruit, coffee, tea and milk. Cost is $10, or $7 for ages 10 and younger. Proceeds benefit the lodge’s youth summer camp scholarships.

Prep: CERT training in Everett

The Everett Police Department plans to hold Community Emergency Response Team training. The classes focus on being prepared for a disaster. The training is scheduled for 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 21 to April 11. The deadline to register is Tuesday.
