GRANITE FALLS – The Railroad Days parade is scheduled to wind its way through downtown today.
This is the 37th year of Granite Falls Railroad and Reunion Day celebrations. The annual event started as a high school reunion and grew to become a celebration of the region’s history.
A full day of events is planned.
Parade: The Grand Parade begins at noon on E. Stanley Street, comes west to S. Granite Avenue, proceeds south past the judges and ends at the community center. Police Chief Tony Domish is this year’s grand marshal. The Seattle Seafair Pirates are scheduled to make an appearance. The parade typically takes about an hour and a half.
Fundraisers: Granite Falls Historical Society at the museum; Friend of the Library book sale at the library; Boys &Girls Club at the Red Apple.
Breakfasts: Damascus Lodge at 7 a.m.; American Legion Hall at 8 a.m.; and Eagles at 9 a.m.
Reunions: 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., Granite Falls Alumni Reunion, Eagles.
Food and crafts: All along Granite Avenue; pie sale and barbecue at the fire station; SweetMeats BBQ at Just Tires; kielbasa and kraut at the senior center.
Other activities: Cascade Amusements Carnival on N. Granite Avenue, continues Sunday; fire equipment demonstrations, first aid and free blood pressure checks at the fire station; horseshoe tournament after the parade at the fire hall; dinner and live music at the Eagles.
