EVERETT — A domestic violence suspect was barricaded inside an Everett-area motel room with a child Wednesday, leading to a heavy response from Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies and a SWAT team, authorities said.
Around 9:50 a.m., the sheriff’s office responded to the Motel 6 at 224 128th Street SW. The man, barricaded inside with the child, 3, was reportedly armed. The man and the child were family members, police said.
A woman escaped the room uninjured, sheriff’s office spokesperson Courtney O’Keefe said.
Police evacuated motel guests to the neighboring Dairy Queen parking lot, witnesses said.
The man was wanted for investigation of second-degree domestic violence assault, authorities said. The sheriff’s office urged people to avoid the area.
The sheriff’s office provided no further updates before The Daily Herald’s print deadline.
