EVERETT — Police are looking into what led up to gunfire early Tuesday near a south Everett motel.
When officers arrived, all they found were shell casings and an abandoned bullet-riddled Cadillac.
Gunfire was reported shortly before 1:40 a.m. An employee at the Motel 6 along 128th Street SW told police he heard several gunshots, said Shari Ireton, a spokeswoman with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. A black sport utility vehicle then sped from the back parking lot toward 128th Street SW, the employee said.
A white Cadillac was parked behind the motel. Officers found two bullet holes in the driver’s side of the car, another in the passenger’s side door and a fourth toward the back, Ireton said.
No one was inside the car. Deputies searched the parking lot, but found no additional evidence or witnesses.
Police have applied for a search warrant to analyze the bullets in the car.
