BELLINGHAM — Whatcom County prosecutors say that a woman accused of firing multiple times at her boyfriend’s 75-year-old business partner, wounding the man, was acting on instructions from the boyfriend.
Prosecutors say the boyfriend is heir to the older man’s approximately $2 million estate. The two operate a vacation rental company.
The Bellingham Herald reported that 23-year-old Esmeralda Martin was arrested for investigation of first-degree attempted murder. Her bail was set Thursday at $1 million. Her boyfriend, 26-year-old Sean Robert Head, was arrested for investigation of complicity to attempted murder. His bail was set at $750,000.
Prosecutor Dave McEachran says the woman went to Edward Davidson’s house Wednesday, saying she wanted to talk about her boyfriend.
The prosecutor alleges she shot the older man in the chest with a 9mm handgun, then kept firing as he ran from the house. He was hospitalized in satisfactory condition.
