WASHINGTON — U.S. Congressman Adam Smith of Washington state has been hospitalized with a collapsed lung.
Spokesman Mike Amato says Smith felt pain in his right side Thursday and went to Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland for a procedure to re-inflate the lung.
Amato says Smith is resting and could be released Friday.
Amato says the lung problem is something Smith was born with and there was no particular cause or injury.
The 9th District representative from Tacoma is 44.
