EVERETT — The roof of an AutoZone Auto Parts building in Everett collapsed Tuesday night.
The Everett Fire Department was called around 8 p.m. to the scene at 6500 Evergreen Way. No one was injured, city spokesperson Kari Goepfert said.
The damage is hardly noticeable from outside, but after an inspection on Wednesday, an Everett fire marshal noted that most of the roof had critical structural failure, and much of it had fallen into the store.
It’s an example of the destruction snow can cause, as warmer weather adds water and ice to the mix.
Neighboring buildings, including Sunrise Services and a repair shop, were not affected.
A batting cage space connected to the AutoZone is closed, pending an engineering assessment.
Nobody is allowed inside the AutoZone until the roof is repaired. The site has been fenced off.
