TACOMA — A burglar cut a hole in the roof of Tacoma’s Freighthouse Square and climbed down a rope to steal coins from the American Rare Coins and Collectibles shop.
Police responded to an alarm at 1:30 a.m. Sunday but the burglar got away, although he dropped many coins on the roof.
The News Tribune reported surveillance photos show the man, who was not wearing a mask. Owner Raymond Brandt says he was not a customer.
Police spokeswoman Loretta Cool says there have been several roof-top break-ins in the past month in the area.
