Teen scores big for soccer Goal project
Kamiak High School senior Tylor Adcock organized a fundraiser that brought in dozens of soccer balls, 100 pairs of soccer cleats, socks, jerseys and shorts, shin guards, goalie gloves, and backpacks, all of which were brand new or slightly used.
The donations went to Goal of Life, a program that a Kamiak teacher’s brother became involved with in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, through his service in the U.S. Coast Guard. Goal of Life helps children in the crime-ridden capital city get involved in soccer as an alternative to negative behavior.
United Airlines waived the $800 shipping fee.
The U.S. Embassy at Tegucigalpa recognized the “American from Seattle” for her efforts on its Facebook page.
Adcock hopes now to raise money to provide the program’s Honduran leader with a new wheelchair.
