Seattle City Light chief pay to top $300,000

SEATTLE — Seattle City Light CEO Jorge Carrasco (HOR’-hay car-AHS’-koh) is already the highest-paid city employee at nearly $245,000 a year.

Now he can expect a raise to more than $300,000.

A City Council committee approved a pay raise Wednesday of as much as $120,000, but a spokesman for Mayor Ed Murray said Carrasco would get about $305,000 if the raise is approved by the full council.

The Seattle Times reports the salary is paid by utility customers.

City personnel director Susan Coskey told the committee Wednesday that other public power managers earn more than Carrasco. She said the head of the Snohomish County Public Utility District is expected to earn $367,000 this year and the manager of the Tacoma Public Utility is expected to make $319,000.
