SEATTLE — Authorities say a Seattle University associate professor of military science has been arrested in Canon City, Colo., accused of several crimes related to soliciting a child for prostitution.
Canon City police say 41-year-old Andrew Douglas Franz flew to Colorado late last week to meet what he thought was an underage girl with whom he had been corresponding online. Franz had really been corresponding with a Colorado law enforcement team that focuses on Internet crimes against children.
Police say Franz is being held in the Fremont County, Colo., Detention Center for investigation of eight offenses, including soliciting for child prostitution.
S.U. Provost John Eshelman has sent an e-mail to students, faculty and staff, saying the university is cooperating with Colorado law enforcement. Franz has worked with S.U.’s Reserve Officers Training Corps. Eshelman says he’s asked the Army to end Franz’ assignment with the school.
