SEQUIM — Sequim officials said a feud between two lavender festivals is withering away.
The Peninsula Daily News reported that the two groups split in 2011 and city officials say it created different sets of farms, additional venues and visitor confusion for the Sequim Lavender Weekend.
But recognizing the importance of the festival, Sequim officials planted both sides at the negotiating table, eventually brokering an agreement to coordinate efforts to make the two festivals work in concert. That includes clarifying and reducing the number of signs that last year had visitors confused about where to go.
Sequim marketing director Barbara Hanna said the weekend of July 20-22 is too important to let the competing groups ruin it.
