EVERETT — An inmate collapsed and died Wednesday morning at the Snohomish County Jail, according to the sheriff’s office.
The 34-year-old Everett man was sitting alone, waiting to be escorted to video court, when he fell to the ground around 7 a.m., according to a news release. Corrections staff called a medical emergency and began lifesaving efforts. Aid units took over and transported the man to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, where he later died.
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office could not immediately determine a cause of death.
Everett police had booked the inmate on Nov. 15 for four municipal court warrants for investigation of reckless driving, fourth-degree domestic violence assault and two violations of a domestic violence no contact order.
Following procedure, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct a morbidity review, and the sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit will conduct a death investigation.
The medical examiner’s office will release the inmate’s identity, as well as his cause and manner of death.
