Snohomish County rings in the holidays with music, Santa and nativities

Events begin Saturday in most places and continue throughout December.

EVERETT — From Santa to the Nativity, communities in Snohomish County offer several options to celebrate Christmas in Snohomish County.

Here is a sampling:

Snohomish Santa arrival and tree lighting — Saturday, 2:30 p.m.

Santa arrives 2:30 p.m. at Snohomish’s Carnegie Building, 105 Cedar Ave., followed by a live music Christmas countdown at Carnegie Plaza at 4:30 p.m. and a tree lighting at 5 p.m.

Edmonds tree lighting ceremony — Saturday, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The annual lighting of the town tree at 5th Avenue N and Bell Street will feature live bands, vendors and a visit from Santa.

Light Up Monroe — Sunday, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Traveler’s Park, 501 E. Main St., Monroe, will come to life with Santa and Mrs. Claus, cocoa and cookies and Christmas carols.

Hometown Holidays, Arlington — Saturday, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Hometown Holidays includes a tree lighting at 5 p.m. at Legion Park, 114 N Olympic Ave. lighted cars on display and a live nativity 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 404 N Olympic Ave. A holiday carousel and ferris wheel will be located next to Legion Park from Dec. 6 through Dec. 15. Beginning at noon Dec. 7, Arlington will hold its Hometown Holidays Santa Parade on Olympic Avenue featuring Santa and Mrs. Claus, classic cars and dancers.

Cookies with Santa, Lynnwood — Sunday, noon to 3 p.m.

Enjoy free cookies with Santa at the Heritage Cottage, 19903 Poplar Way.

Merrysville for the Holidays, Marysville — Dec. 7-8, Dec. 15

A Holiday Market will feature vendors and live music 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Dec. 7, at Comeford Park. The Electric Lights Parade begins at 6:30 p.m., and will run along State Avenue from Ninth Street to Fifth Street.

Arlington Nativity Festival, Dec. 13-15

The annual three-day Christmas event at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 17222 43rd Ave., will feature live music from local performers and hundreds of nativity sets from around the world.

Hours are 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Community Christmas concerts will be held 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Everett Wintertide — Dec. 1-24

Already underway with the Wintertide Tree Lighting and kickoff celebration Friday, the monthlong event touts more than 40 activities throughout Everett, including Wintertide at the Village on Friday, Dec. 6, and Holiday on the Bay on Saturday, Dec. 7 .
