SEATTLE — Some residents of southeast Seattle have been advised to boil their tap water until tests confirm it is safe to drink, following a water pipe break.
The pipe broke early Wednesday, affecting as many as 1,300 homes. Seattle Public Utilities said repairs were completed and water service restored by Wednesday afternoon.
The utility said it would take at least 24 hours for drinking water test results.
Officials say the break occurred on a smaller pipe where it connects to a 20-inch main. To make the repair, the larger main had to be shut down, resulting in the outage.
