DARRINGTON — Locked doors await customers at the Darrington post office after heavy rains caused flooding in the building’s lobby last month.
Damaged floors and mold prompted the closure, United States Postal Service spokesperson Ernie Swanson said in an email. A timeline for repairs was unknown.
“P.O. Box customers can pick up their mail from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at a side entrance to the building. Retail transactions can also be made at that location,” Swanson said. No reservations are necessary.
Mail pick-up hours could be expanded if necessary, Swanson said.
Repair costs were being determined, but the postal service leases the facility and will not bear the financial impact.
