MONROE — Seattle Sounders FC players Fredy Montero and Osvaldo Alonso will help Snohomish County open a soccer complex along Fryelands Boulevard on Sunday.
They will be on hand for official opening of Fairfield County Park at 2 p.m.
The 40-acre park near Fryelands Elementary School is home to nine new soccer fields, which have hosted the Sky River Soccer Tournament for the past week.
The county gave Sky River Soccer Club $75,000 in grant money in exchange for more than $125,000 in labor and fundraising for the park. The soccer club and the county together built more that 120 parking spaces.
After the park opening, Montero and Alonso are scheduled to go to the Evergreen State Fair and sign autographs at the Comcast tent near the main gate.
