Where to celebrate Memorial Day 2018 in Snohomish County

Memorial Day is Monday. Ceremonies, parades and other events are listed by community.

Arlington

A Memorial Day parade sponsored by American Legion Post 76 starts at 10 a.m. along Olympic Avenue downtown, followed by a ceremony at the Arlington Cemetery, 20310 67th Ave. NE.

Edmonds

The Edmonds Cemetery Board holds a ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Edmonds Memorial Cemetery and Columbarium, 820 15th St. SW. With special emphasis on Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. Bring lawn chairs.

Everett

The Central Memorial Committee, celebrating its 100th anniversary, hosts a ceremony at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, 4504 Broadway. Mayor Cassie Franklin is master of ceremonies. Speaker is Capt. Mark Lakamp from Naval Station Everett. Local ROTC teens also take part. Gifts for families of fallen service members. Following the event, Fleet Reserve Association Branch 170 hosts a luncheon, noon to 3 p.m. at 6802 Beverly Blvd.

Lake Stevens

American Legion Post 181 holds a Community Memorial Day Service at 10 a.m. at the War Veterans Memorial, 1808 124th Ave. NE.

Lynnwood

Lynnwood American Legion Post 37 and Lynnwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1040 sponsor a ceremony that includes bagpipes, music, the laying of wreaths and a rifle salute, 11 a.m. at Veterans Park, at 194th Street SW and 44th Avenue W.

Marysville

American Legion Post 178 holds a ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Marysville Cemetery, 8801 State Ave. Guest speakers include Mayor Jon Nehring. An open house with light lunch follows, 12-3 p.m. at the Post, 119 Cedar Ave.

Mill Creek

A Commemorative Ceremony is at 9 a.m. at Mill Creek Veterans Monument, 15429 Bothell-Everett Highway. Volunteers will hand out red carnations, which attendees are encouraged to place on the monument followed by a moment of silence during the ceremony. A parade starts at 11 a.m. and winds down Main Street through Mill Creek Town Center, ending at City Hall.

Monroe

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7511 hosts a service at 11 a.m. at the IOOF Cemetery, 21714 Old Owen Road.

Mukilteo

The Mukilteo Historical Society hosts a program at 11 a.m. at Pioneer Cemetery, 513 Webster St.

Snohomish

American Legion Earl Winehart Post 96 hosts a program at 11 a.m. at Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery, 8601 Riverview Road. U.S. Rep. Suzan DelBene speaks. The Snohomish High School band performs.

American Legion Post 181 holds a ceremony at noon at the Machias Cemetery, at 135th Avenue SE and 12th Street SE.

Stanwood

The Community Veterans Memorial is dedicated at a ceremony at 1 p.m. on the campus of the Stanwood Area Historical Society, 27130 102nd Ave. NW. Keynote speaker is 101st Airborne veteran Mike Ballard. The names of 49 fallen service members listed on the memorial will be read aloud.

Sultan

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2554 of Sultan and Post 9417 of Gold Bar take turns hosting the annual ceremony, 11 a.m. at Sultan Cemetery, located south of U.S. 2 at the east end of Cascade View Drive.
