LYNNWOOD — An elderly woman killed in a house fire in Lynnwood on Sunday has been identified.
Around noon Sunday, firefighters responded to a report of flames coming from the home in the 17900 block of 33rd Place W. When firefighters arrived, the home was nearly engulfed in flames, according to South County Fire. Access to the home proved challenging, due to a collapse of several areas on the first floor. It took about 20 minutes for firefighters to extinguish the fire.
Inside the home, firefighters found Rama Sharma, 81. Her cause and manner of death were pending this week, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office. KIRO 7 reported Sharma was a grandmother of seven.
Firefighters also evaluated a man in his 90s at the scene for possible smoke inhalation. Though several people lived at the home, the woman and man were believed to be the only two there at the time of the fire.
A volunteer was reportedly evaluated at the scene for a possible medical issue. No firefighters were injured.
The home was a complete loss.
