GRANITE FALLS — A woman shot her boyfriend in the chest in a suspected domestic violence assault Tuesday evening near Verlot, authorities said.
The woman, 46, and a man, 43, were arguing about their relationship around 7:20 p.m. when she shot him at a home in the 35000 block of the Mountain Loop Highway, about 12 miles east of Granite Falls, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
An ambulance rushed the man to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. According to a police report, he suffered a gunshot wound to the upper left of his chest. Detectives were able to speak with him. As of Wednesday, he was expected to survive, sheriff’s Lt. Glenn DeWitt said in an email.
Meanwhile, deputies arrested the woman, of the Granite Falls area, for investigation of first-degree domestic violence assault.
She was being held in the Snohomish County Jail as of Wednesday afternoon.
A 1-year-old boy was in the home at the time of the shooting, according to the police report filed in Everett District Court.
Deputies did not find the weapon at the scene.
