Woman groped in restroom stall at Everett Fred Meyer

Correction, June 20, 2008: An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported the status of the case. No charges have been filed.

EVERETT — A 22-year-old Lynnwood man was arrested for investigation of voyeurism and indecent liberties after a woman reported that he groped her in the bathroom of a Fred Meyer store on Evergreen Way in Everett, according to court documents.

The woman, 35, told police that she was in a stall in the women’s restroom Wednesday when she saw someone peeking in through a gap in the stall. The woman said she thought at first that it was a child, but when she opened the stall door, she saw a man, the documents said.

The woman told police that the man pushed her back into the stall and groped her through her shirt and her pants. She escaped, then saw the suspect enter the men’s restroom, the documents said.

The woman contacted store security, who called Everett police. Officers found the man alone in the men’s restroom and arrested him.

The man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail. A judge Thursday ordered him held on $35,000 bail.
