Woman killed in Everett apartment fire

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to one unit. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

EVERETT — A woman died after a fire caused significant damage to a fourplex unit in Everett on Tuesday night.

Around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, the Everett Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at a fourplex apartment complex located in the 2500 block of Grand Avenue in Everett. Neighbors reported flames coming from one of the apartment windows.

Firefighters arrived to see a bottom-floor apartment on fire. Upon entering the unit, they found an unresponsive adult female. Paramedics and emergency medical personnel immediately began CPR and administering life-saving measures for 45 minutes. Despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The firefighters extinguished the flames within 15 minutes of their arrival, preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring units. No other residents were displaced.

The Everett Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the origin and cause of the fire while the Everett Police Department is handling the investigation related to the fatality, which is standard procedure.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm the identity of the deceased and determine the cause and manner of death.

Marysville Fire District, Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue, and Snohomish County Fire District NO. 4 assisted with the fire.
