LYNNWOOD — A woman in her 80s died after a fire destroyed a two-story home Sunday in Lynnwood, officials said.
Around noon, firefighters responded to a report of flames coming from the home in the 17900 block of 33rd Place W. When firefighters arrived, the home was nearly engulfed in flames, according to South County Fire. Access to the home proved challenging, due to a collapse of several areas on the first floor. It took about 20 minutes for firefighters to extinguish the fire.
Inside the home, firefighters found a deceased woman, fire officials said. Firefighters also evaluated a man, who is in his 90s, at the scene for possible smoke inhalation. Though several people lived at the home, the woman and man were believed to be the only two there at the time of the fire.
A volunteer was reportedly evaluated at the scene for a possible medical issue. No firefighters were injured.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office was investigating the cause of the fire Sunday. The home is a complete loss, according to South County Fire. Damages were being determined.
