So did he or didn’t he? It hardly matters whether Donald Trump knew about Russian bounties paid to the Taliban or not. If he did, would it be unreasonable to expect the commander in chief to make it public and take some action against Russia? If he didn’t, an even bigger question; why didn’t he?
The White House claims that the president didn’t know. The intelligence community says categorically that it was included in his briefings early in 2019. Someone is wrong. If you give Trump the benefit of the doubt, and he didn’t know, then it was either because he didn’t read his intelligence briefs, or because he, uh, didn’t see the significance, or uh, forgot?
To reiterate, this guy is the president. This kind of detail is more important than his golf handicap. If he is to be believed, then the intelligence community is lying. The “Deep State” paranoia rears its ugly head, and an extremely unlikely scenario must be believed. My, my, my. The Donald defends himself so eloquently, it’s hard to know which way to turn.
