While the idea of Canada becoming the 51st state may be a novel idea, there may be a sliver lining. There are 10 provinces and three territories. With each having two senators and at least a total of 50 additional congressional representatives, It would expand the Senate to 126 and the House to approximately 485. That would dramatically change the Electoral College map, help with getting universal health care established, promote common sense gun laws and expand the list of possible presidential candidates.
