I’ve lived a long time in this beloved country and have taken an oath to obey the laws inherent in our U.S. Constitution many times. I fervently believe in the democratic principles that have guided us for over 250 years.
Never have I witnessed the lawlessness, cruelty and usurpation of our democracy as we are now enduring under the Trump administration. The list of traitorous and unlawful acts by Trump and the South African immigrant, Elon Musk, is staggering and ongoing.
Now we have little recourse to arrest these criminals, as the U.S. marshals are controlled by Trump’s Justice Department. The agents of the FBI and CIA are also under Trump’s influence with his loyal appointments to head these agencies.
Most recently, Trump’s lies about the aggressor in the war against Ukraine in one of many indications that he a friend to Russia, and his actions take a wrecking ball to our position as leader of the free world. At the same time, he is ignoring the rule of law while harming the most vulnerable in our society.
Because the Legislative branch is held in MAGA Republican hands, we only have the court systems to uphold our Democracy. Necessitating a long, and as yet uncertain outcome.
Inspired by our Constitution, it’s we, the people, who must be courageous in these times. We gather with like-minded neighbors and resist this lawlessness. Resist in all the many ways we can, and know we need to “go the distance” to outlive this treachery.
