Mr. Rosemond’s self-puffery of why being a child is “not a big deal” (The Herald, Sept. 25) truly explains why he is so severely rigid and yes, old-fashioned about child rearing.
Needing to prove himself on every level from academics to sports to behavior just shows how insecure his parents left him and he still needs approval as evidenced in his columns. Children are precious and should be acknowledged as such, especially by their parents. His column proves again and again that he was left out of that love, thus his unrelenting push to keep children viewed as lesser than adults who need to be put in their place like he was.
