Courts must push for Abrego Garcia’s return to U.S.

The role of government is not to cancel or break things but to make life better for its people. Leadership means doing the hard work of this, not punishing citizens or destroying systems without a plan to make them better.

Leadership also means representing all people, not just those who voted for you. A White House and the conservative Christians who support them have every right to make things better. What is particularly heartbreaking is the cruelty in which they are carrying out their plans.

The example of love Jesus set for us does not mean celebrating when people are sent to horrendous prisons in another country without due process but rather means taking care of the least of these and treating others with the same care we would want for ourselves and our families. Yes, this is a harder way of life than sending someone away who doesn’t look like you or agree with you, but you cannot call yourself a Christian if you support these policies.

If Trump has as much power as he claims he does, Kilmar Abrego Garcia should be on a plane back to the United States right now. Congress should be holding the president accountable for his illegal actions. The judicial branch should be following through on their investigation threats and moving this constitutional crisis forward because anything else is just wrong.

DOGE is claiming to cut money, but how much are we spending on illegal acts such as this? Trump and his administration should be sent to prison in El Salvador. Maybe then they would emerge with the empathy it takes to run a country.
